The micro:bit has quickly become a favorite tool for early discovery of physical computing by younger students. The micro:bit v1.5 GO bundle (mb158-US) includes a single micro:bit module, battery pack with batteries, and a USB cable. The micro:bit CLUB is a class pack, with 10 each of micro:bit modules, battery packs with batteries, and USB cables, in bulk packaging. We suggest that educators  getting started with the micro:bit in a classroom environment review the free curriculum from CYBER.ORG. As the academic initiative of the Cyber Innovation Center, their program is the most comprehensive curriculum available for micro:bit - and it’s totally free and fully supported in Canvas. The micro:bit hardware is a single board computer with enough capability to be used for games and applications. The 5x5 LED matrix, buttons, accelerometer, magnetometer, and Bluetooth radio provide enough sensors and communication devices for a number of projects. The I/O pins, power and ground are accessible with alligator clips (so you can turn a banana into a pushbutton, for example).  Its 20-pin edge connector fits with the Parallax cyber:bot board for robotics - coming soon!

Micro:bit modules can be programmed in MicroPython (text-based coding), the Microsoft Block Editor (drag-and-drop language), and JavaScript. The micro:bit MicroPython tutorials and Mu editor are an effective combination for learning to code.
