At present, the Parallax physical operations are open with a small sales, shipping and manufacturing team in the office but we are closed to visitors and tours. If Placer County adopts a "shelter in place" program we will close the building and suspend sales order processing and manufacturing, but continue to communicate by email, phone, and forums — entirely remotely as described below. The Parallax team is a family and we're protective of individual safety and well-being.
Supporting our Staff
Those in the building are located in separate areas, following social distancing requirements. All travel-based activities are obviously canceled until late June at this stage. Anybody with portable capability is already working remotely, including our educational team, engineers, IT staff, accounting, and HR. If the pandemic progresses or people prefer to stay home we will support their decisions as well. Our team is communicating well and I am personally available for them anytime.
Supporting our Customers
You can reach us the following ways even if our building physically closes:
Sales orders: (888-512-1024)
Educator Hotline calls: (916-701-8625).
Education via email: (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Tech Support via email: (email@example.com)
We are answering your inquiries and accepting calls. On Monday, we launched the Distance Learning Robotics Program. Our team quickly sent 130+ robots to educators around the USA to participate in our hands-on Zoom meetings, the first-of-kind effort from Parallax. The last kits will ship tomorrow, Friday, in time for the following week's training. Out-of-class time is the best opportunity for educators to learn about microcontrollers, electronics, and coding so we're doubling-down our efforts together. Their response has been overwhelmingly enthusiastic and new skills shall be developed.
Supply Chain is Intact
At present, our global supply chain still looks stable as Chinese companies have resumed manufacturing of components and circuit boards. Our Asian suppliers are actively communicating with us and processing orders. Our manufacturing plant in Rocklin, California is presently running at full speed. We have been informed of delays in some instances, such as the delivery of Rev. C Propeller 2 chips. In this case, the semiconductor packaging company has temporarily closed and the April delivery has not been rescheduled.
Keeping in Touch
We anticipate making changes as the situation evolves. To keep in touch, join our newsletter or follow us, or simply check the Parallax home page.
We plan to get through the coronavirus pandemic and be stronger than before. Please take care of yourselves and make good use of the time in a productive manner.
